Description

Omid tells his story to Felicity. Felicity tells Omid’s story to Mark, then Mark to Nabil, Nabil to Helen and Helen to Megan… each time with hilarious misrememberings, improvisations, stumbles, fumbles and laughs.

Six comedians have a funny story to tell. Can they pass the story along the chain without completely twisting the tale?

But this isn’t like the game you play at school where you only whisper short sentences. Each episode is a complete, beautifully written story, with each retelling getting funnier (and weirder!) as it passes on.

In season 2 of Please Tell Me A Story, Omid Djalili is joined by Felicity Ward, Mark Thomas, Nabil Abdulrashid, Helen Bauer, and Megan Jayne Crabbe.

It's the game where story telling goes horribly wrong…

A Sony Music Entertainment production.

Ever wondered why Tony Soprano’s therapist stuck with him? Why Fleabag is obsessed with sex or why Walter White is always in his underpants? ‘Shrink the Box’ is where actor comedian Ben Bailey Smith and psychotherapist Sasha Bates put their favourite fictional characters such as Shiv from Succession, Omar from the Wire and Ross from Friends on the couch to analyse why their behaviour causes them so much drama. Sasha and Ben explore why these characters make certain decisions, what would happen if they made different ones and what we can learn from their mistakes. The perfect combination of psychology, self-help and the best TV since the birth of the box-set. A Somethin’ Else & Sony Music Entertainment production. Omid Djalili welcomes you to Please Tell Me A Story, the show where six funny people tell each other the same story over and over again, with hilarious consequences along the way. Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs.  In season 1 Omid is joined by an all-star cast: Abi Clarke, Seán Burke, Kai Samra, Sikisa, and Helen Bauer.  Omid kicks off the season with a tale of romance, oral hygiene, and toilet humour. We are transported back to a wedding in 1991. Omid’s Uncle, keen to make an impression with the ladies, decides to clean his dentures, but things don’t go exactly to plan.  Find out if the dentures will stay pearly white, who is a 'sweet piece of ass', and why Helen Bauer was apologising to Omid before she told his story back to him... Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs. Abi Clarke is in the story-telling hotseat this week. She spins a compelling yet baffling yarn of (slightly untimely) festive cheer through the lens of a Florida Man. Think Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ mixed with the ridiculous antics of men from the US’s Sunshine State, complete with helium balloons, an underwater world, and an emotional support python. It’s an age-old story with a surprisingly modern resonance, which led Kai Samra to declare he was ‘having a breakdown’ trying to remember it. So how many of the details will go walkies as we pass it down the line…? Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs. Seán Burke is this week’s raconteur, and brings us the story of a fresh-faced, romantic comedian who starts dating the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen. It’s love at first swipe, but soon there’s a suspicious stand-up comedy hating father to win over. Will our hero’s jokes go down a storm at the all-important Bassoon Show, or will they be his downfall? What does the term ‘doing a Kai’ mean? And how does retired Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola turn into ‘a pretentious falafel’? A Somethin’ Else and Sony Music Entertainment production. Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs. Sikisa is in the chair with a murder mystery to rival Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, and the writers of Midsomer Murders. Why do the characters miss their flight? Who are these dead bodies? And where did that Scottish detective come from? So many questions, and like all good thrillers, you’ll have to wait until the end to find out what really happens... And as the story unravels in every retelling, find out why Seán Burke was accused of ‘censoring women’s voices’, and how Helen Bauer got stuck in her ‘mind palace’. Fasten your seatbelts, as this story is experiencing some turbulence... A Somethin’ Else and Sony Music Entertainment production. Omid Djalili welcomes you to Please Tell Me A Story, the show where six funny people tell each other the same story over and over again, with hilarious consequences along the way. Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs. Kai Samra takes the reins this week, with a love story that will first warm your cockles, then spook them away. It’s the tale of a young man meeting his girlfriend’s parents for the first time, but their Isle of Wight-living, classical music-loving antics very quickly prove a barrier, and things don’t really go to plan. As the story gets passed along, find out what made Sikisa cry with laughter, how Churchill the Dog weaselled his way into the story, and why Omid will be seen fanboying Kai at all of his future gigs. Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs. Helen Bauer is our final storyteller of the season, and her tale brings the house down. It's 2007: James Blunt is topping the charts, skinny jeans are IN and it's Helen's high-school Prom night, complete with corsages, an awkward/erotic photoshoot and, of course, unrequited love. Listen to hear the most disgusting dry humping sound you can imagine, to learn what a 'corsage' is, and to find out who is getting fingered in the Please Tell Me A Story season finale! Omid Djalili and friends are back with another season of Please Tell Me A Story, the game where storytelling goes wrong. This time round, Omid is joined by Felicity Ward, Mark Thomas, Nabil Abdulrashid, Helen Bauer, and Megan Jayne Crabbe. Omid takes to the big blue storytelling chair to kick off the season, and recounts a tale from the set of Gladiator - did you know he was in that film? It involves a young Hans Zimmer, an overly familiar Oliver Reed, and a very confused Omid Djalili. As the story gets passed along, find out what made Nabil cry with laughter, who Megan mistakes Oliver Reed for, and what all of this has to do with a doner kebab from Lewisham market. This time round, Omid is joined by Felicity Ward, Mark Thomas, Nabil Abdulrashid, Helen Bauer, and Megan Jayne Crabbe. Megan Jayne Crabbe is in the big blue storytelling chair this time, taking us on a journey of seaside arcades, killer dance moves… and the dark side of the Spice Girls. It’s an episode that gives us Mark Thomas rocking out to Avril Lavigne, and Felicity Ward getting extremely passionate about 90s pop. Find out who knows their Viva Forever from their Viva… never. Helen Bauer is this week’s storyteller and she transports us back to a simpler time. We’re in primary school for Red Nose Day, the fun time where everyone gets to wear red. But a toilet accident means that Helen’s day doesn’t really go to plan. And things go from bad to worse on Paper Bag Princess Day… It's a story of highs and lows, poos and wees. Listen to hear Felicity’s dubious impression of schoolgirl Helen, Mark’s improvised jazz soundtrack, and an increasingly angry Helen when she hears what happens to her story. This time round, Omid is joined by Felicity Ward, Mark Thomas, Nabil Abdulrashid, Helen Bauer, and Megan Jayne Crabbe. Nabil takes to the big blue storytelling chair! As we cross the mid-way point of the series, he tells a North Nigerian story full of wisdom, morals, and lessons... but do those morals make it to the final telling? Hmmm... Find out how Felicity's words nearly get her into some real trouble, how Helen and Mark got inventive with their own sound effects, and how Megan added her own murderous twist to the tale. Omid Djalili and friends are back with another season of Please Tell Me A Story, the game where storytelling goes wrong. Mark Thomas is this week’s raconteur, and transports us back to Belfast in the late ‘80s. It’s his first time gigging in Northern Ireland, and things don't go to plan. Omid Djalili and friends are back with another season of Please Tell Me A Story, the game where storytelling goes wrong. Felicity Ward is last to take to the big blue storytelling chair and brings season 2 to a close with a story about her time at Mariah Carey’s summer camp. A fresh-faced 19 year old Felicity chaperones some sexually-awakening teenage boys and moths plays a pivotal role in a story that may or may not include meeting Mariah herself.  Megan goes off script, Helen attempts to hit the high notes, and Mark talks of ‘flanging teens, fish and flapping moths’ in the season finale.  You can watch Please Tell Me A Story on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/@pleasetellmeastory  A Somethin’ Else and Sony Music Entertainment production  Find more great podcasts from Sony Music Entertainment at sonymusic.com/podcasts and follow us at @sonypodcasts  To bring your brand to life in this podcast, email podcastadsales@sonymusic.com  Learn more about your ad choices.
